What a Great Community!!

I’m sitting here with my manager reflecting on how our first eleven days have been at F.A.R.M. Cafe.  Already we have stories that touch our hearts of people who’ve given of their time, their money, and their spirit to make this place successful.  We’ve also been moved by the people who’ve just stuck their heads in the door and said things like,  “Here’s twenty dollars, feed somebody!”  The volunteers are amazing, dedicated, and hardworking.  As a long time restaurant veteran I can always find things to “complain about” but honestly, all I can say right now is how very, very thankful I am to be in this place, in this community, and on this journey with all of you who support F.A.R.M. Cafe.  By all of the measures that mark what is best about being human, our first eleven days have been a true success!!!

Let’s Open the Doors!

We’re so excited to open the doors to F.A.R.M. Cafe!  So much work and volunteer effort has already taken place as we’ve prepared for this moment.  It is such a pleasure to hear the sounds & smells of a kitchen as our volunteer cooks and regular staff share in the creation of our daily menus.  We hope all of you will find time to stop by the cafe and enjoy a meal with us this week and the weeks to come.  Thank you again to all who have helped to make this dream a reality!  Welcome to F.A.R.M. ( Feed All Regardless of Means ) Cafe!!

Update from Renee

The renovations are practically complete and we’re moving forward looking to open in late April!  We’re excited to host several events prior to our official opening. On April 19th F.A.R.M. Cafe will have an invitation only “Meet and Greet” evening to invite our King Street neighbors to enjoy some light snacks and beverages while we get to know each other!  We are happy to have Denise Cerreta coming to town to support our efforts as we start this community journey.  Denise is the founder of OneWorldEverybodyEats in Salt Lake City, Utah which is the original organization for the community cafe concept.  She currently dedicates herself to the mission of ending hunger and building community by supporting cafes across the country.  We welcome Denise as a vision partner for F.A.R.M. Cafe.  Please continue to follow us as we will be announcing our official opening date soon!

Sincerely,

Renee Boughman

The Feinstein Challenge!!

F.A.R.M. Cafe is participating in this years Feinstein $1 million Challenge!

“It doesn’t have to be new,” said Board of Directors President Renee Boughman. “In fact, we encourage the concept of reuse and recycling. Part of the fun and community aspect of this venture is that our glasses and silverware can be mismatched and our larger items will have come from other businesses.”
